After a frantic 5-5 draw on the opening day of the season, Brandon United made the short trip to Chester-le-Street Town. Footyrambler James Williams was there to see what happened next.
A bit of late-summer sunshine attracted a decent crowd to Moor Park. Kicking down the hill, Chester-le-Street made a positive start to the game. Brandon United had the best of the possession in both halves, though, Ryan Readman having a couple of chances well saved by Town keeper Kyle Barlow. The visitors paid for their profligacy in front of goal when Ryan Hindmarsh duffed a clearance into the path of Callum Patton and the Chester-le-Street number nine stroked the ball into an open goal. Brandon did everything but equalise and will be aggrieved not to have taken anything from the game.
