Socrates Ryton

As well as Northern League Day, April 9th also sees the north of England’s first ever Socrates Football Bloggers Meet Up. We’ll be kicking off in The Boathouse, the brewery tap for Wyam Brewery, at 11 o’clock. Right next to the River Tyne and Wylam Railway Station, the pub was built in the 17th century as a ferryman’s cottage, has a choice of 14 handpulled ales and has won CAMRA’s Northumberland Pub of the Year award a record eight times. At 3pm we’ll be taking in the Northern League game between Ryton FC and Billingham Synthonia, whose most famous ex-player is a certain Brian Howard Clough. After the game it’s off to the bright lights of Ouseburn in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Confirmed attendees so far include @gibfootballshow, @twounfortunates, @HuddoHudson, @LeazesTerrace, @Dolphin Hotel, @NewcastleDavey, @realpaulbrown and In Bed With Maradona.
